Creator Fund

TikTok's way of saying: make videos, get paid. (But read the fine print.)

The TikTok Creator Fund is a monetization program designed to pay creators directly for their video content. Rather than relying solely on brand deals or sponsorships, eligible creators can earn money based on the performance of their videos—measured by views, engagement, and content authenticity. Launched in 2020 with an initial $200 million investment, the Creator Fund represented TikTok’s commitment to turning creative passion into actual income. The program has since evolved into the Creator Rewards Program, which offers a higher average payout per view.

What makes the Creator Fund different from ad revenue sharing?

This is a critical distinction. The Creator Fund is not ad revenue sharing. TikTok doesn’t split ad earnings with creators the way YouTube does. Instead, TikTok allocates a separate pool of money and distributes it to creators based on their performance metrics. This means your earnings are tied to video views and engagement, but not directly to the ads shown alongside your content. The monetization program operates independently from TikTok’s advertising business.

Who is eligible for the TikTok Creator Fund?

To join, you must meet several requirements: be at least 18 years old, have at least 10,000 followers, accumulate at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, and maintain an account that complies with TikTok’s Community Guidelines. Eligibility varies by region—the fund is available in the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Once you meet these thresholds, you can apply directly through your creator account in the app.

How much can you actually earn?

Earnings vary widely and depend on multiple factors: the number of authentic views your videos receive, engagement rates, content quality, and whether your content aligns with community standards. TikTok doesn’t publish a fixed rate per view, so creators report earnings ranging from minimal to substantial depending on their audience size and video performance. The total Creator Fund pool fluctuates daily based on the volume of content published across the platform, so your earnings will naturally ebb and flow.

Is the Creator Fund still available?

The original Creator Fund has been replaced by the Creator Rewards Program, which offers a reformulated rewards formula with higher average payouts per view. If you were eligible for the original fund, you may now qualify for the upgraded program. Check TikTok’s support documentation to understand the transition and current eligibility requirements for the newer monetization program.

Why should creators care about this?

For creators building a career on TikTok, the Creator Fund represents a direct income stream beyond sponsorships and brand partnerships. It validates the time and effort you invest in creating content and gives you a financial incentive to post consistently. Even if earnings are modest at first, the monetization program signals that TikTok values your work and wants to support creators in turning their platform presence into a livelihood.
